As many of you know, I’m a huge wine fan. That’s a cultured way of saying I drink too much!

This is quick post with a bit of basic information on wine that I hope you’ll find interesting.

The picture below is a good example of the different soil types in Bolgheri, a prominent wine producing area in Tuscany, Italy.

It’s hard to believe how different they are.

These varied soils impart different flavor profiles into the grapes grown in them.  Vineyard managers and wine makers, plant different grape types in the soil they believe is best suited.

The make up of the ground the vines are grown in help to explain why wines taste differently.
