FTK – is short hand for Forensic Tool Kit – sorry if it wasn’t saucy enough for you. As you can imagine, there are many devices used by forensics techs.
One of those is called an Imager. This piece of technology quickly scans a computer hard drive looking for information to see if a full search is warranted.
Some of the types of items an Imager looks for are deleted emails (nothing really goes away) and strings of text they can use to break passwords or encryption.
The information gleaned from a suspect’s computer or phone are an important part of most investigations.
